Travel Route 3 Days Berlin
Cities are not high on our priority list as outdoor travelers. Nevertheless, I went on a solo city trip to Berlin. In this article you will find a complete travelroute of 3 days in Berlin along the most important highlights of the city.

Day 1: Treptower Park and East Side Gallery
The first day of your trip to Berlin starts with the journey. I (Meike) traveled solo and for that reason I opted for the train instead of the car. This way you can be dropped off easily and you don’t have to worry about your car. You can easily buy a metro ticket at the central station. You can choose three zones: A, B and C. Are you not traveling further than the city limit? Then A and B are sufficient. The first stop is Treptower park.
Treptower Park is not very big, but still very nice to walk through. After this I continue the walk towards the East Side Gallery (3). The two spots are easy to combine, also on foot (gpx), but to be honest, the route from Treptower Park to East Side Gallery is not worth the walk. So you can also take the metro from the park towards the Gallery (Warschauer Straße). Before you walk past the East Side Gallery, you pass the Oberbaumbrücke (2).

Tip for the evening: Visit Markthalle Neun! On Thursday evenings there is ‘street food evening’ here. You can buy your food at a wide choice of stands and eat it standing or sitting. This is a nice way to meet people, because there are more people who come alone or as a couple and who want to join you at the table.

Day 2: Hotspots Berlin and Kurfürstendamm
Three days in Berlin means that you have a lot planned for the second day. There are many famous sights and information points throughout the city. Be sure to view the stops on the Google Maps map of Berlin or take a good look around you. You will find blue signs everywhere that direct you in the direction of the nearest attraction. Do you find it easier to follow a route? Then view our extensive article about the walking route past all the sights in Berlin.

Done with the information and history? Kurfürstendamm is known as the best shopping area in Berlin. It has to offer everything you could wish for: from the large to the small chain stores, it is all there. However, the entire street looks unpleasant because it is a busy and traffic-heavy street.
Day 3: Sachsenhausen
If you plan it right, you can still travel to Sachsenhausen (12) on the morning of departure. So I planned my return trip in the late afternoon. If you want to travel to Sachsenhausen, you must buy a new metro ticket: ABC. You are traveling outside the city limits and an AB ticket is not sufficient. You take line S1 to Oranienburg. From this station it is a 20-25 minute walk to the Gedankstätte, but there are also buses.
The entrance to the Gedankstätte Sachsenhausen is free. You first enter the information desk and then walk along the outer walls into the camp. For the history buff, this is really worth a visit. Want to know more about Sachsenhausen? Then also read our article about Sachsenhausen.

After this I pick up my backpack at the hostel so that I am on time for the return journey home. My conclusion after this three-day itinerary through Berlin: the city is bursting with history and really big, so you really need to take a few days out to explore it all!
