Dubai in August: Why You Should Visit Dubai in August!

Many may think you are crazy if you travel to one of the hottest places on earth during summer. And yes, it is really hot in Dubai in the summer. We experienced it ourselves, because we visited this city in August 2023! Still, it wasn’t too bad and we think this might be even a good time to travel. Below are five reasons to visit Dubai in August from our own experience!

1. Visit August in Dubai Means Low Season

A bit of a no-brainer, but really: it is low season in August! Dubai is a fairly expensive destination, but during the summer months you can find great hotels for a good prices. The choice is enormous and even the real luxury hotels are, in our experience, suddenly no longer completely unaffordable! You also avoid the biggest crowds of the high season that visit Dubai in the winter months. And even in August it was already quite busy here.

2. Lots of Activities are Inside

Many activities in Dubai are inside buildings, such as the many shopping centers and skyscrapers. So you’re indoors a lot. And even in August it will be nice and cool here in the airconditioning. The metro and tram stops are cooled as well. And don’t forget: you will sleep wonderfully, because the hotels are of course equipped with the necessary air conditioning (but check that 100%, if there is no air conditioning you really have a big problem)! Check out Merure Hotel Barsha Heights for a great stay in Dubai!

3. Aquaventure is Really Nice in Summer

Aquaventure, currently the largest swimming paradise in the world. Obviously, we had to visit that place! No matter the temperature. But even though it was just below fifty(!) degrees Celsius during our visit, we really didn’t suffer from the heat at all (okay, apart from the sea, which felt more like a jacuzzi). The water is cooled everywhere and even the changing rooms have air conditioning! You can wear clothes (think of a T-shirt) and free water socks are distributed in the pool against the hot tiles.

Conclusion: our experience is that you can enjoy a day of water fun in Dubai even in August! Look here for current prices for Aquaventure!

4. There is Always Aircon

So the city walk through Dubai Marina was not a pleasant experience at daytime. Just ten minutes of walking and we had to look for the nearest cool place again and again. Fortunately, air conditioning is never far away and you can cool down perfectly in any shopping mall or even a tram stop.

5. It’s Not as Hot All Day

During the day, let’s say between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., it is just really hot (about 40 to 50 degrees Celsius is normal). After that time it starts to cool down noticeably. Our experience is that it is quite bearable in the evening. For example, we visited the Burj Khalifa in the evening. The activities also have some sort sort of national heat plan. For example, the desert safari (recommended!) didn’t start until 4 p.m., so we could enjoy an Arabic barbecue in the middle of the desert late at night. Still hot, but doable with some adjustment. Don’t think that it will cool down really well, it remains around 35 to 40 degrees in the evening and the temperature never drops below 30 degrees in August.

Disadvantages Visit Dubai in August

Are there any disadvantages? Of course! If you are a beach lover, it is better to choose another month. The sea is so hot that it feels more like a jacuzzi (which is just not so nice when it is already 45 degrees). Not to mention the beach looks more like a giant barbecue. Not a pleasant experience! It is almost impossible to do any activities like that outside during the day anyway, so you will have to settle for indoor activities. And in general you also have to be able to tolerate heat, otherwise Dubai in August will not be a holiday of fun experiences!
