Top Outdoor Activities in Slovenia

Slovenia is a dream destination for outdoor travelers, or at least for us it was! Whether you’re into cycling, hiking, rafting, or kayaking, this country has much to offer! During our short trip, we tried a few outdoor activities in Slovenia but quickly realized we’d love to come back for a longer stay to explore even more of this stunning country. In this article, we’re sharing some of the top outdoor activities in Slovenia around Triglav National Park and Bled.

A Two-Day Taste of Slovenia

We only had two days in Slovenia, which wasn’t nearly enough to try everything this adventure-packed destination has to offer. But it was immediately clear that Slovenia is an outdoor paradise. Everywhere we looked, we saw people cycling (on road bikes and mountain bikes) and hiking. Thanks to the rivers flowing through the regions we visited, there are also plenty of opportunities for water-based adventures.

Vršič Pass

You don’t need to be a hardcore hiker to enjoy the Vršič Pass. Just driving along this mountain road is an adventure in itself! For the truly fit and fearless, cycling up the pass is an option, though it’s not easy. The road is narrow in places and can be a bit rough with loose stones. At the top, you’ll find several marked hiking trails, but unfortunately, we couldn’t try them out due to the bad weather. If you visit on a clear day, the views and trails are sure to be worth it!

Rafting on the Soča River

The emerald-green Soča River is perfect for a rafting adventure. Along the road that winds alongside the river, you’ll find plenty of rafting operators offering tours. Many of these spots are near campgrounds, so finding a place to stay for the night is not really hard.

Boka Waterfall & Great Soča Gorge

These two natural attractions are great for anyone looking for easy walks with spectacular views. The Boka Waterfall is just a 10-minute walk from the parking area, while the Great Soča Gorge is even closer. Both spots are accessible for anyone with decent mobility and are well worth a visit for their breathtaking scenery.
