Mini Travel Guide Vilnius
A lesser-known travel destination: the Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania). We visited these three countries in northeastern Europe, with Vilnius as both our starting and ending point. We are very impressed by this city’s rich history, which also has a modern touch. Check out our complete Vilnius mini travel guide here!

Accommodation
We stayed in two different hotels in the city, one even located near the airport. We were in our room in no time after landing. Ideal if, like us, you have a late flight!
Accommodation close to the airport: Park Inn by Radisson Vilnius Airport hotel
Accommodation close to city centre: Vilnius city hotel
Vilnius Old Town
The old center of Vilnius is very charming. Everywhere you look, there are historic buildings and lovely squares. The city’s history is still palpable, especially in the old quarter. Despite this, the city is well-developed, offering a nice balance between new and old throughout. And in the evening, there’s still plenty to do in Vilnius Old Town!

Viewpoint Vilnius
There are two viewpoints we recommend visiting in Vilnius. Gediminas Castle Tower is situated on a hill, giving you a beautiful view over the old city center. A better and free alternative is the Three Crosses Monument. From this spot, you can even look out over the castle!

Restaurant
A good restaurant is, of course, a must in this Vilnius mini travel guide. Etno Dvaras serves local dishes in a very charmingly decorated restaurant. This restaurant has several locations in the Baltic states, but the one in Vilnius is, in our opinion, the most authentic. It really feels like you’re stepping back in time!
Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights
Want to learn more about the Soviet era? Then visit the Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights. You can find the exact location in our free Google Maps travel guide Baltic states.

Trakai and Trakai Island castle
A short drive from the center of Vilnius is Trakai and the Trakai Island Castle. This spot is a bit more touristy, but definitely worth a visit! The castle is located in a stunning setting, right on an island, as the name suggests. You can walk around the castle for free. If you’d like a guided tour, there’s a small entrance fee.
