Getting to the Start of Psiloritis Hike
First, it takes a drive to the Mygero Refugee, which is located at about 1500m above sea level. The road is paved all the way to the parking, however, mind the potholes and herds of sheep just crossing the road without any hesitation. Except for a small parking lot, you are in the middle of nowhere at the refugee. So be sure to pack all necessary items for the hike beforehand.

Hike to the Highest Mountain of Crete: Psiloritis
The starting point of the hike is exactly opposite to the Mygero Refugee. From here, you can follow the trail all the way to the top of the mountain. Although the ascend gets quite steep sometimes, the entire route is well marked and there are no difficult climbing passages. The last part runs over a ridge, ascending fairly flat to the top of Psiloritis. Do not forget to bring an extra sweater or jacket, the altitude makes it colder and especially on this last section it can be quite windy.
