1. Skiing in the Sierra Nevada

Yes, you read that correctly! Just a two-hour drive from Málaga, the Sierra Nevada offers a fantastic winter escape for ski lovers. During the colder months, this mountain range transforms into a top-tier ski destination. If you plan on taking this day trip, renting a car through Sunnycars is the best option for the journey.

2. Cycling Around Málaga

Discover Málaga’s surroundings by bike and enjoy breathtaking views of the city and its landscapes. Our Google Maps travel guide Málaga provides an easy-to-follow itinerary. There are plenty of bike rental shops in the city, but based on our experience, we highly recommend Bike2Málaga.

3. Caminito del Rey

Around 50 kilometers from Málaga, the famous Caminito del Rey (King’s Path) awaits. There are organized day trips by bus from the city center, or you can drive there yourself. Be sure to book your ticket in advance, as they operate with time slots. We once visited without a reservation and managed to secure a spot by being the first in line at the ticket office early in the morning!

4. Jardín Botánico Málaga

Just a short distance from Málaga’s center, the botanical garden offers a peaceful retreat from the city. Although the garden isn’t very large and the city views are not spectacular, it’s still a lovely place to spend a relaxing morning or afternoon in a tranquil setting.

5. Torremolinos

Head south by bus to explore the nearby beach towns, with Torremolinos being a top choice. While Málaga itself has a beach, you may have already visited it during your first few days in the city. Torremolinos offers a great alternative for sunbathing and soaking up the relaxed coastal vibe.

6. Granada, Córdoba, Seville, Gibraltar

Málaga is well-connected to some of Andalucía’s most iconic cities. Córdoba is particularly convenient for a day trip by train. You can leave in the morning, explore the city’s highlights, and return in the evening. Granada, Seville, and Gibraltar require slightly longer travel times, but each offers a unique cultural and historical experience well worth the trip.

Whether you’re looking for nature, culture, or relaxation, these day trips from Málaga have something for everyone!
