The tallest building in the world, you literally can’t miss that one! The Burj Khalifa is already visible from your window in the plane and is definitely worth a visit! We thought it was very special to see this building with our own eyes, both from the outside and inside. We collected some tips and practical information during our visit. Check out all our tips for your visit to the Burj Khalifa in Dubai!

How to Get There?

The Burj Khalifa is easily accessible by Dubai’s public transport (red metro line). You have to get off at the metro stop ‘Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall’. From here it takes a fairly long route through some tunnel tubes (it looks a bit like an airport). Don’t go outside anywhere, that was our mistake! Instead, walk all the way to the Dubai Mall (also worth a visit by the way). Then search for the Burj Khalifa signs, they are indicated from here. Please note: there a (paid) option to enter the tower, but you can also visit the large square (including the fountain show) behind the Burj Khalifa for free!

Tips for Your Visit to Burj Khalifa Dubai

The Burj Khalifa can only be visited from within the Dubai Mall. There is no other way you can enter from the outside. We made the mistake of walking all the way around and searched for at least an hour. However, staying in the Mall, it is just a matter of following the signs to the ticket counter. This is located on one of the lower floors, so don’t be surprised if you have to go down first!

Once you arrive at the ticket counter, it is possible to purchase entrance tickets on site. Depending on the time of day it is doable or very busy. After waiting half an hour we were able to get a ticket, but then we had to wait another hour before we were actually allowed to enter the building. They work with timeslots (but once you reach the top you can stay as long as you want). It is also possible to make a reservation in advance, it’ll save you some time and you’ll be guaranteed to enter.

How Much Does a Visit to Burj Khalifa Dubai Cost?

There are a few options for visiting Burj Khalifa. You can either go to level 124/125 or level 148. Furthermore, there are some other options, but the prices are unreasonable high so that we do not include them as a realistic option. Most people (including us) choose the first option: level 124 and 125. This is the cheapest option (which is still quite expensive) with an entrance fee of 169AED in 2023 per person. You can also go higher (level 148), but our experience is that at that height you really no longer see a difference. The additional price is certainly not worth it in our opinion. Tip: look for current promotions, because there are usually discounts available. For example, we got a 30% discount with our Emirates boarding pass! Look here for the current prices for Burj Khalifa.

Above prices apply to regular entrance times. However, it is very popular to watch the sunset from the tower. As a result, the ticket is more expensive a few hours before sunset. We simply bought a regular ticket and visited the large outdoor area behind Burj Khalifa during sunset.

Tips for the Outdoor Area around Burj Khalifa

Entering the Burj Khalifa is already a great experience, but don’t forget to visit the outdoor area behind the skyscraper! It’s just as beautiful here (and free)! Again from the Dubai Mall now walk towards the ‘Souk Al Bahar Bridge’. Once out of the Dubai Mall, a very large pond is visible. You can walk all the way around here to take the most beautiful photos of the Burj Khalifa! It is recommended to visit this place both during daylight and in the evening, because the Burj Khalifa looks very different at both times.

Tip: don’t miss the fountain show, completely free to see! It doesn’t really matter where you are along the pond. Just find a quiet spot to enjoy the show! Download our Google Maps travel guide Dubai for all the spots we visited.
